Jeff Baird

FOUNDER & PORTFOLIO MANAGER

Jeff Baird is the Founder and Portfolio Manager of Merritt Point Partners. He leads the firm's investment activities across both the commodity and carbon strategies. Jeff has over 25 years of institutional trading and investment management experience, with a track record of consistently positive returns across market cycles. He began his career on the sell side before moving into portfolio management roles at Moore Capital and Caxton Associates. He later served as Managing Director of Special Investments at Stanford Management Company, where he led successful co-investments and strategic partnerships.

Jeff holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University and is a CFA Charterholder.

DIRECTOR OF ANALYTICS

David Klein is the Director of Analytics at Merritt Point and a member of the Investment Team. He oversees the firm's analytics efforts with a particular focus on the U.S. carbon market. David brings a multidisciplinary background as a developer, entrepreneur, risk manager, and academic. Prior to joining Merritt Point in 2018, he served as Investment Risk Officer at the University of California Investments Office and lectured at UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business. He is a recipient of the 2013 NAAIM Wagner Award for research on credit market signals in equity allocation.

David holds an M.A. in Mathematics from Washington University and a Master of Financial Engineering from the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business.

Mudit Gupta

COO/CFO/CCO

Mudit Gupta is the COO, CFO, and CCO of Merritt Point. He oversees the firm's business activities and external relationships. Mudit has over 20 years of experience building and managing hedge fund infrastructure. Prior to joining Merritt Point in 2022, he was the COO of Athanor Capital, helping scale the firm from launch to $2.4 billion AUM. He previously held senior roles at Balyasny Asset Management, Continuum Investment Management, and D.E. Shaw & Co.

Mudit holds a B.S. in Finance and International Business from the University of Maryland and an MBA from Cornell University.

PORTFOLIO STRATEGIST

Ya Fang is a Portfolio Strategist at Merritt Point and a member of the Investment Team. She focuses on investment strategies across commodity markets. Ya has over eight years of experience in commodities, with a strong fundamental background and deep relationships across hedge funds, asset managers, and banks. Prior to joining Merritt Point in 2024, she was Head of North America Institutional Commodities Sales at JPMorgan.

Ya holds a B.S. in Economics from Duke University.
